Pengertian dan Notasi Vektor

Dalam fisika dikenal dua buah besaran, yaitu besaran skalar dan besaran vektor.
A. Besaran Skalar
Besaran Skalar adalah suatu besaran yang hanya mempunyai nilai saja tetapi tidak mempunyai arah.
Contoh:
- Panjang
- Massa
- Waktu
- Suhu
dll

B. Besaran Vektor
Besaran vektor adalah besaran yang mempunyai nilai dan arah
Contoh:
- Perpindahan
- Kecepatan
- Gaya
- Kuat medan listrik
dll

Vektor di bidang datar dan di ruang adalah kombinasi dari suatu panjang (tak negatif) dan suatu arah.

Vektor adalah suatu ruas garis yang ditentukan oleh panjang dan arahnya. Panjang dinamakan panjang vektor atau besar vektor.

Suatu vektor diberi notasi dengan huruf latin, misal a(huruf tebal atau bold).
